The Salvation Army Angel Tree

Want to help children keep the magic of the holidays this season? Consider “Adopting An Angel”.
How To Do It…
- Pick your Angel from the Angel Tree from a Host Location
- Buy new items: toy(s) and / or clothes for you Angel
- Return the new, unwrapped gift(s) in a bag with the Angel Tree tag securely attached to the outside of the bag.
The East Lee County Chamber of Commerce will be a host location for the program this year.

2025 East Lee Chamber Annual Awards Gala

The 2025 East Lee Chamber Awards Gala may seem like it’s in the distance, but it’ll be here before you know it!
Our Gala celebrates the achievements of those who have made a difference in our community in 2024.
It’s a fun night where we can catch up with the members of our proud community, along with a silent auction, a fabulous dinner, entertainment, and of course, our Annual Awards Presentation.

Recent Events
Alico Road Extension Design Public Information Meeting

Lee County had a scheduled public meeting for Phases 2 & 3 of the Alico Road Extension Design.
The meeting covered the project, which includes the new alignment from Green Meadow Road to State Road 82, and continuing north along Sunshine Boulevard up to 23rd Street.
The meeting was held as an “open house”.

LCEC put out a Facebook post with a graphic giving you 5 tips to keep you and your family safe as you celebrate the holiday season.

FGCU’s Regional Economic Indicators Publication

Looking for more metrics for you to stay on top of what’s going on in our local economy?
Consider subscribing to the Regional Economic Indicators. It’s a monthly publication from the Regional Economic Research Institute from FGCU’s Lutgert College of Business.
Along with a monthly publication, they give you access to their dashboard, which offers a snapshot of indicators like airport passenger activity, tourist tax revenues, and a consumer sentiment index.

Board Inauguration and Reorganization

Last month, there was a celebration for the inauguration of three members elected to the Lee Board of County Commissioners.
The three commissioners celebrated were:
- District 1 Commissioner Kevin Ruane – served since 2020
- District 3 Commissioner David Mulicka – elected to the seat this year
- District 5 Commissioner Mike Greenwell – served since 2022

Flooding Facts

Lee County has launched a new resource website called “Flooding Facts” to offer information about the various types of flooding seen in Lee County in the past 10 years.
It explains the causes of flooding, outline Lee County Government’s efforts to mitigate the impacts, and demonstrate why storm flooding can vary dramatically.
Also, their website outlines the difference between riverine, sheet flow, storm surge, and flash flooding.

Planning for Growth

The Lee Board of County Commissioners awarded a construction contract for the South East Wellfield Expansion.
This project includes constructing two Lower Hawthorn Aquifer wells and rehabilitating nine Sandstone Aquifer wells serving the Green Meadows Water Treatment Plant.
Upon completion, this project will improve the raw water supply to the plant by approximately 5.1 million gallons per day (MGD).
These improvements will bolster system reliability and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the aquifer.
